Vegetable oil used as diesel fuel. Yes, a diesel engine is going to veg oil. There are three ways to use vegetable oil as fuel.
1 Vegetable oil law (SVO).
2 mixing vegetable oil with a petro-fuel thinner or solvents.
3 Biodiesel, my favorite.
The term refers to straight vegetable oil SVO. SVO can be used as a substitute for gasoline direct, but can lead to engine damage. SVO for high viscosity leads to poor combustion, injection attack, excessive carbonFuel storage and dilution of engine oil. For these reasons, transesterification is the best general method for using vegetable oil as fuel.
The viscosity of CARRY is that they are happy with maple syrup or honey in the tank. To use a heating fuel is necessary to thin the oil SVO. Arrangements for starting the engine must be made on a petro-diesel or bio-diesel and then switch to vegetable oil after the engine is running, then again on the petroDiesel or biodiesel for the arrest. I suppose in very hot weather can be useful. Personally I do not like the idea of SVO. I would not run in my 2004 VW Jetta TDI diesel, so do not go into detail about it.
Mix the oil, is too subtle a way to run vegetable oil in the engine. Kerosene, diesel and other petrochemical products can be used as a diluent. Once again, I'm not interested in mixing vegetable oil, so do not talk about it. My interest is in the production of biodiesel.
Whatis biodiesel?
Biodiesel is a renewable substitute for petroleum-based diesel. It 'much more environmentally friendly than fossil fuels. Biodiesel is simple to use, biodegradable, nontoxic, renewable and virtually free of sulfur in our United States.
• An interesting fact is that biodiesel releases CO2 and water during the combustion process. The interesting tidbit is that the release of CO2 from burning biodiesel is absorbed from the atmosphere when the crop was grown from seed.Remember the biology class that plants absorb CO2 and emit oxygen in photosynthesis.
• For this reason, biodiesel is essentially CO2-neutral way, with the exception of small amounts of production.
• Unlike fossil fuels, biodiesel is biodegradable. In the case of a burial does not harm the environment.
Oils (WVO) can be used to produce biodiesel. The United States currently produces about 3600000000 gallons of WVO per year. Thatis about 100 million gallons a day!
Biodiesel can be made from any vegetable oil or animal fat. Soy, corn, canola, peanut oil, used cooking fat, and much more, as I said, do any vegetable oil.
Any substance which contains fatty acids (triglycerides) can be used. The molecule from which the fat contains triglycerides and glycerol by foreign affiliates. The idea of producing biodiesel is the fat from glycerol (glycerin makes the thick oil) separated. The chemical processused is called transesterification. The oil is separated into two products, methyl esters and glycerin. The methyl ester, biodiesel and glycerin can be turned into soap or other useful products.
